MTDC provides protection for foreign tourists

According to the Midday, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) will now extend security services to foreign tourist groups, who wish to avail of an armed police guard while visiting Mumbai. This facility, which will be provided for the next six months, is to assure foreign visitors of safety within the city. Mumbai police will be deployed for the same.

A special request is required for protection outside Mumbai. A group of Canadian tourists, who were Trident hotel guests at the time of the terror attack, were amongst the first to avail of this service — they were provided with nine armed policemen to accompany them for a one week trip within Maharashtra.
