Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is planning on providing certain training courses to local transport owners (taxi, auto-rickshaw, buses and local trains), hospitality representatives, railways, airport and MTDC regional offices staff to cater to the need of the tourists visiting the state. This development was divulged by Rajan Momin, Sr. Manager (Development), MTDC, who said that the planned training programme initiative is on similar lines of the Incredible India campaign with Aamir Khan spreading the message of Responsible Tourism initiative that will take off in April this year.
“All those who are a part of the industry need to understand that tourism is a source of income for many and we should all work towards its growth,” stated Momin. MTDC is also planning to come out with a series of print and television ads (through regional and mainline media) conveying the need of developing responsible attitude towards tourists in the state. Apart from this in the upcoming ‘Travel & Tourism Fair,’ which will be held in Mumbai from February 7- 9, 2009 MTDC will promote ‘slowdown weekend’ tourist spots. |
