Nepal government plans to purchase seven aircraft to boost tourism

The government of Nepal plans to purchase seven aircraft within the next five years in a bid to boost tourism to the country. This information was given by Sharat Singh Bhandari, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal to Malaysian National News Agency Bernama. Speaking in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu recently, Bhandari said that the government was planning the purchases to coincide with a tourism push which will include ‘Nepal Tourism Year 2011’ – during which the government is targeting one million foreign arrivals.

“The government is supporting the deal to buy the planes. We will finalise the process by the end of this month,” Bhandari was quoted saying, adding that Boeing and Airbus had approached following the publication of the tender.
