Germany Inbound
Germany has been a popular destination in Indian outbound market with regards to business travel. However, for the past couple of years German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has been aggressively pushing the country as a leisure destination in India through various themes like family fun, active lifestyle holidays, etc. While a dip of two per cent in overall overnight stays is the forecast for this year, forecast of overnight stays from Asia is pegged for a growth of 2.6 per cent. India and China are expected to contribute significantly.

The next Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) convention is likely to be held abroad - again!
This is the impression we gathered from Rajji Rai, President, TAAI recently when he spoke to us at the inaugural of a very impressive travel and tourism exchange, in Delhi. We were disappointed, at first, and asked him why TAAI should move off-shore. Rai looked around the crowded hall. “Because” he said, “as the industry grows, we’re running out of options in India. Not many of our cities can cater to large conventions. The facilities here…” in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan “… were great when they were built, perhaps. But they’re showing their age.”
