Rural Tourism: Getting connected to ‘real India’ By Rashmi Sawant, Director, Culture Aangan Tourism Pvt Ltd
Summer holidays during my childhood were invariably spent at my grandparent’s house in Kumta in North Karnataka. Today, in this hedonistic life style, I realise that if anything that keeps me grounded are those childhood days spent at my grandparents home- running riot in the ‘aangan’ (courtyard), getting muddy, climbing the mango trees to pluck raw mangoes, drawing water from the well, blowing into the funnel to light fire to the wood, the aromas of early morning, grandfather clearing the Aangan of fallen dry leaves, afternoons spent in the ‘aagan’ helping grandmother make papads and watching her weave the ‘aaboli’ garlands on banana fiber.

The Webinar Age
The first sledgehammer falls on advertising, the second on travel and the last one on sundry perks. Organisations are getting wary of too many meetings and seminars as marketing strategy. Economic downturns or no economic downturns, the age of webinars is steadily creeping into corporate life, much to the chagrin of some diehard business travellers, especially in the travel trade itself.
