A region of rugged yet breath taking scenic beauty and diverse culture, the North East is drawing attention of tourists for all the right reasons. The North Eastern states are once again making a concerted effort and taking every initiative to get noticed and realise their tourism potential. The region comprises seven states, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur and Meghalaya, that offer diversity to tourists travelling to India through local tribes, cultural festivals and wildlife. The natural beauty of the states makes them preferred locations for Ecotourism, Wildlife and Adventure Tourism. Despite immense potential that the region shows, it has not received enough attention from the central and state governments. However, in the recent past, the North East has witnessed a series of development initiatives taken up by the state or the Central government in order to boost its tourism potential. |
