Oman Tourism plans to appoint tourism representative in India

Oman Tourism, according to sources is planning to appoint a representative in India, effective February 1, 2009. TravelBiz Monitor contacted Humaid Al Maani, Ambassador of Oman to India, who informed that Oman was planning to appoint a tourism representative in India and wishes to promote Oman as an Ecotourism destination. For increasing tourism initiatives in India, Oman tourism had recently conducted a FAM trip to their country, in association with Oman Air. For the FAM trip, they invited various tour operators and media persons from India.

The new scenario of tourism business with India and Oman has resulted due to the recent visit of Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh to Oman. During his visit, India and Oman decided to form various bilateral ties in different sectors. According to sources, currently, Oman has about five lakh Indian expatriates and the figure is believed to be highest in any foreign country.
