Orissa govt planning to organise Travel Mart from this year to attract more tourists

The Orissa government is planning to organise a ‘Travel Mart’ from this year, with a view to attract more tourists. A final decision regarding the same will be taken soon. Apart from this, the state government plans to introduce radio taxi for the convenience for tourists visiting the state.

According to a report in Business Standard, Debi Prasad, Tourism Minister, Orissa recently chaired a high level meeting on promotion of tourism in the state.  Dr Mona Sharma, Tourism Secretary, Orissa; Rabi Nanda, Director Tourism, Orissa and J K Mohanty, President, Hotels & Restaurant Association of Orissa (HARO) were present at the meeting. At the meeting it was decided that roadshows and other activities will be organised in overseas offices of the Indian tourism department, efforts will be made to attract more tourists during Konark Mahotsav. Also extensive coverage about the tourism potential in the state will be publicised through prominent international television and print media. Steps will be taken to increase the stay of tourists visiting the state.
