Punjab govt approves multi crore plan to put Amritsar on the international tourism circuit

A high level meeting of the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Promotion Board (PHTPB) recently took place in Chandigarh, during which an integrated multi crore plan to put the Historic City, Amritsar on the international tourist circuit was approved by Hira Singh Gabria, Tourism Minister, Punjab and Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab.  The meeting was attended by Master Mohan Lal, Transport Minister, Punjab; Shwet Malik, Mayor, Amritsar; Geetika Kalha, Principal Secretary Tourism, Punjab; D.S.Jaspal, Principal Secretary Transport, Punjab; D.S.Bains, Secretary Local Government, Punjab; Vishwajit Khanna, Principal Secretary/Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab; K.S.Pannu, Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar; Manvesh Sidhu, Additional Secretary to Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab and other senior officers of concern departments.

As per a report in the Punjabnewsline, the multi crore plan involved the construction of heritage village, preservation and beatification of Ram Bagh Gardens, preservation of historic Town Hall building, setting up of Food Street, development of pedestrian plaza opposite Golden Temple,
