Major travel trade associations in India namely TAAI, IAAI, TAFI, ETAA, IATO and ADTOI are likely to target Qatar Airways next for withdrawal of support. Rajji Rai, President, TAAI stated that the association has suggested Qatar Airways as the next target for withdrawal of support. He informed that the decision on the same will be taken by all the associations within the next three to four days. Currently these associations are drawing up a list of all the international airlines who are working on a zero commission model. Earlier this week the associations announced their decision to withdraw support to Singapore Airlines effective from December 29 and yesterday they announced the decision to withdraw support to SilkAir, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines from January 1, 2009.
As reported by TravelBiz Monitor on December 12, 2008, after Air India, Kingfisher and Jet Airways agreeing to pay agents three per cent on gross fare, the associations are going to approach each international carrier who's working on zero commission model to restore the five per cent agency commission on the gross fare. |
