Kerala-based Somatheeram Group, known for their traditional Ayurvedic resorts, will open more leisure hotels in the state. As part of their expansion plans, the Group recently opened their first leisure hotel, Soma Palm Shore, near Kovalam Light House Beach in Kerala. The three-star property has 35 rooms. According to an official of the Group, the hotel has a small conference room, which can accommodate 35 people.
The Group is in the process of adding new properties in the coming months. There are plans to launch a three-star leisure hotel Soma Kuttanad at Ambalapuzha in Alapuzha district next month. The hotel will have an inventory of 15 rooms, the official informed. In addition to that, the Group will launch a four-star heritage property near Puthotta in Kochi. The property, which the Group has taken over on lease, will have 25 rooms. The Group expects these hotels to be operational by August, 2009. The official informed, “Unlike our Ayurvedic resorts, these will be leisure hotels with Ayurvedic treatment just a value add on.”
