Bangkok-based ASEAN Competitiveness Enhancement (ACE) Project had signed a deal with ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA) during ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Hanoi, Vietnam, last year, to develop tourism branding for ASEAN destinations with a website SoutheastAsia.org as the trading portal. The ACE project is being funded by the United States Agency for International Developmentās (USAID) Regional Development Mission Asia. SoutheastAsia.org underwent a soft launch during the ASEAN Tourism Forum in Brunei, which began on January 21, 2010 and will continue till January 28, 2010.
According to a report in travelmole.com, the portal will have a special section for travel agents and others in the travel trade. Travel suppliers are being encouraged to submit content. Much of the content on SoutheastAsia.org is being built around niche themes such as Ecotourism, train travel, cultural sightseeing and cruising.
ACE has teamed up with Singapore-based Wego Pte Ltd, which runs its own portal for hotels, airlines, tours and car rental services, worldwide. |
