SpiceJet and MAS Aerospace Engineering (MAE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines, have signed a three-year maintenance support agreement for SpiceJet’s fleet of Boeing 737 New Generation (NG) series aircraft. Robert Bryant, Vice President Engineering/Maintenance, SpiceJet signed the agreement with Tan Wee Liam, General Manager, Engineering & Maintenance, MAS. The ceremony was witnessed by Sanjay Aggarwal, Chief Executive Officer, SpiceJet and En Mohd Roslan Ismail, Managing Director, MAE.
With this, SpiceJet’s current fleet of 19 aircraft and future aircraft will be sent to MAE for ‘C’ checks (where virtually the entire aircraft goes through a series of checks, inspections and overhaul work. This check will take approximately five-six days to complete) and heavy checks ‘D’ (where major modifications and overhaul to carry out. This may take up to a month) from 2010 until 2013. SpiceJet will be adding 12 more B737 NG aircraft to its fleet over the next two years to build a fleet of 31 aircraft. |
