SriLankan Airlines for the next year would be adopting a structured approach in their strategy. Talking about plans achieved for this year and the next, Dimuthu Tennakoon, manager – Western India informed TravelBiz Monitor about the end of his tenure in India. Effective January 1, 2009, Shermal Perera would be taking over as manager – western India for SriLankan Airlines. He is moving into India from the Maldives. Elaborating on plans Tennakoon said, "Though we had set targets at the set of this year, considering the financial crisis had to be revised. At this point, we have achived the revised targets. Our concentration would also be a lot on the interiors of the western region such as Indore and Pune."
The airline in the recent financial meltdown has in its bit reduced capacity to maintain a positive balance sheet. For India, the total numbers of flights have been reduced from 100 flights to around approximately 82 flights. For the western region, Mumbai is currently seven flights to Colombo, while Mumbai – Karachi and Goa – Colombo remain the same. |
