Srilankan Tourism to consider more state-specific tie-ups

The state of Gujarat had recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Srilanka in order to promote the Ramayan Trail in Srilanka and vice versa at the recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Investors Summit 2009 that was held in Ahmedabad. The Summit had seen Srilanka want to seriously revive tourism to the country and was in strong attendance. In addition both countries will also promote the concept of Buddhism as well as promote tourism between India and Srilanka. Talking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor, Milinda Moragoda M.P, Minister of Tourism, government of Srilanka mentioned, "Just like Gujarat, we would be considering other states too. We would explore opportunities with states like Kerala, Karnataka and many more. We would also like to highlight niche areas of tourism within Srilanka apart from highlighting on the religious links."
