With the successful conclusion of Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) which was held last month in Jaipur, major State Tourism Boards (STBs) in India are keen on organising an annual trade fair on the lines of GITB. States like Karnataka, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and West Bengal were present in a big way at the event, which welcomed about 170 international buyers from across the globe. After recording a huge response from foreign buyers at the event, major STBs are in talks with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to kick start an annual trade exhibition like GITB to give a boost to the state tourism sector. Confirming STBs keen approach, Amita Sarkar, Senior Director – SAARC countries, FICCI said, “This year, we received an outstanding response at GITB from both Indian and international trade players. After witnessing impressive response from international buyers, STBs are approaching FICCI to organise something on lines with GITB in their respective states. Currently, talks with few STBs are at a nascent stage and there are no concrete plans at the moment. Anyhow, |
