Interim Budget 2009-10 Reactions: Biji Eapen, President, IAAI

Nothing has been allocated to travel and tourism industry. After the terrorist attack in Mumbai, Government of India (GoI) has been on a planning mode and announced several new initiatives and future steps for the well-being of the industry but it is sad that the government has not allocated any incentive to travel and tourism industry in the Interim Budget, which was announced today. IAAI expected that GoI will announce commission as right for travel agents and give support to agents for taking commission from 14 foreign airlines which do not pay commission to agents resulting in one million employees in the industry, facing financial downturn.
