Interim Budget 2009-10 Reactions: Rajji Rai, President, TAAI

The government should be pro-active in helping travel and tourism industry for providing incentives and tax free holidays for five years and export status to the industry. Unfortunately, nothing has been given for travel and tourism in the Interim Budget announced today. Tourism is a booster and injection to every economy and a good will ambassador for India. It contributes income to airport, hotels, bars, stores, tour operators, travel agents, heritage destinations etc. I on the behalf of TAAI, urge the Government of India that they should consider the industry (travel and tourism) as a priority sector and realise the potential of the industry.
