The Surajkund Crafts Mela 2010 which kick started today and will continue till the 15th of this month at Surajkund in Haryana, was inaugurated by Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Vice President, Government of India. This year, Tajikistan is the partner country and Rajasthan is theme state for the Mela.
Besides the organisers of the Mela, Jagnnath Pahadia, Governor, Haryana; Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Minister, Haryana; Kumari Selja, Union Minister for Tourism, Housing & Poverty Alleviation; Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Rajasthan; Om Prakash Jain, Minister for Transport, Tourism Civil Aviation and Hospitality, Haryana; Mahendra Pratap Singh, Minister for Power, Renewal Energy, Labour and Employment, Haryana; Bina Kak, Minister for Tourism, Women and Child Development, Rajasthan; Rajendra Singh Guda, Minister of State for Tourism, Art and Culture, Rajasthan, graced the occasion. In addition to this, 25 high level delegates from Sri Lanka visited the Mela to study and replicate the Mela in Sri Lanka.
Several craftsmen from different countries such as Thailand, Egypt, and SAARC countries, including India are participating in the Mela. |
