Sutera Harbour, the integrated hospitality and tourism resort located at Sabah, Malaysia is developing strategies to target the Indian market. In 2007, during the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) Convention in Sabah, Sutera Harbour started promoting the property in the Indian market. However, due to a lack of response from the Indian market, renewed efforts are being launched.
In early 2009, Sutera Harbour participated in trade fairs in Bengaluru and Chennai as part of the promotion activities. “We have conducted our market research and spoken with several travel agents in India. We have realised that our property can be positioned well for the high-end FIT’s who are keen to explore new destinations, as well as for the MICE segment,” informed Jacinta Thomas, Senior Sales Manager, Sutera Harbour.
Sutera Harbour is also exploring opportunities to work with Sabah Tourism and Tourism Malaysia in order to create awareness about its product in the Indian market and launch joint promotional activities. In line with the same, it will organise FAM tours for the Indian travel trade to its property. |
