Swiss-based Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts to open its first property in India by October 2010

Swiss-based hotel chain, Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts plans to launch its first hotel in India by October 2010. The hotel to be known as ‘Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore,’ will be owned by Bengaluru-based MSR Hotels and managed by Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. The spa in the hotel will be managed and operated by Mumbai-based Sohum Spa.

Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore will be an upscale hotel, which will mainly target to corporate and business clienteles. The 182-room inventory hotel will have an Italian restaurant, a coffee shop, a rooftop Japanese and Thai bar and lounge, a decobar and 1,000 sq metre banquet, besides the spa. The average room rate for the upcoming hotel would be Rs 7,500.

Talking about the challenges as a new entrant in the Indian hospitality segment, Thomas Weber, General Manager, Mövenpick Hotel & Spa Bangalore said, “Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts have a strong presence in the Middle East and European markets. Being our first hotel in India, we want to mark our presence in the hospitality map of India.
