Switzerland Tourism has appointed Michael Maeder as the new Director for India, who will take charge from April 2010. This was informed during the road show recently organised in New Delhi to promote Switzerland as a tourist destination. For the same, the tourism board had brought down 14 delegates representing various tourism products and destinations such as Glacier 3000, Mt. Pilatus, Geneve and Basel etc. The tourism board will be organising similar workshop in Kolkata today; Chennai on January 18, 2010 and Mumbai on January 19-20, 2010. The tourism board has announced this year to be ‘The Year of Hiking’. India is a significant and fourth strategic market for Switzerland Tourism. Jorg P Krebs, Director Markets (Gulf Countries, India, Russia, Nordic Countries, Czech Republic and Poland), Switzerland Tourism said, “We find growth in this market and would like to invest money. Switzerland received three lakh overnight from India last year as compared to their expectation of 3, 40,000.” |
