Switzerland Tourism to tap South Indian market, open counsel in Bangalore by next year

To organise Switzerland Travel Mart in May 2009, conduct workshops in India

Switzerland Tourism will now tap the South India market by opening a counsel at Bangalore in the second-half of 2009. Switzerland Tourism also plans to conduct workshops in India in January 2009 and will organise the Switzerland Travel Mart in May 2009. “We will conduct joint summer campaigning in association with Swiss Travel System and Rail Europe. Also there are plans in the pipeline for organising cricket on ice at Jungfrau in 2010 or 2011,” informed Jorg P Krebs, Director – Markets, Switzerland Tourism.

As reported by TravelBiz Monitor in its November 10-16, 2008 issue, Switzerland will become partner to the Schengen Visa Agreement by early next month. Earlier this week, Switzerland Tourism announced the list of changes in Visa application forms that will be initiated in January 2009. The Visa fees will be increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 4,000 with new categories including Transit ‘A’ (limited to airport); Transit ‘B’ (stay for five days) Visas; National Visa (more than 90 days) and Visa Facilitation Services (VFS) to be initiated from January 17, 2009.
