TAFI – Helping the travel industry take an ‘Informed’ decision

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) formed in 1986, today is one of the most important travel trade association in India. Anita Jain highlights the various challenges and achievements of the association over the years and its difference to the Indian travel trade sector

While prophets of doom and critics have commonly concluded that travel agents have knowingly left themselves isolated to the idea of change and therefore vulnerable to its onset, there are those within the industry who believe that the travel agents are street smart and have the enterprise to accommodate change. While there are those who believe that while both the above schools of though are relevant in their own way, the only medium to find out which point is closer to the mark is to go out and meet these challenges, drive the change and at least, try to stay on the top, and this is where the role of TAFI comes into picture. The Association which was started with mere eight members, today is a strong body of over 1,400 active members of travel trade industry from various parts of India.

Bracing the change
Established in 1986 as a breakaway class of agents within Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI); over the years, the Association has taken up various causes and has steadily increased the number of members.
