Taiwan Tourism to appoint PR set-up in India by year end

Taiwan Tourism Bureau is in the process of finalising a Public Relation (PR) set-up in India to take care of the promotional activities in the Indian market. According to sources in the Taipei Information and Cultural Centre in Delhi, a decision in this regard is awaited some time this year. “We have finished the bidding process for the same in March 2009 and awaiting a decision from Taiwan,” the official informed. At the same time, Wenchyi Ong, Representative, Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre, said that he was in touch with the tourism authorities in Taipei to send an official to India to co-ordinate tourism promotional activities in the Indian market.  

When asked about inbound tourism to Taiwan amidst the global financial meltdown, Ong said that Taiwan was unaffected with the slowdown due to improved bilateral relations with Mainland China. He said the country is facing shortage of rooms due to surge in inbound tourists from Mainland China.
