Tanzania Tourist Board to establish first representative office in Mumbai by July 2009 end

With an aim to boost and facilitate inbound tourist arrivals from India, the Tanzanian Tourist Board (TTB) is in the process of setting up representative offices in India. The initiative will be aided by private tour operators and travel agents from India and the first representative office is likely to be established in Mumbai by July 2009 end. Subsequently TTB also plans to establish its representative offices in key markets like New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and East Indian states to create better visibility for the destination.

A Tanzanian national cum travel trade associate working closely with the Embassy of Tanzania informed that bureaucratic discussions for commissioning TTB's representative offices in India are in the advanced stages and both Indian and Tanzanian governments are working to create a platform that will help open tourism activity from either countries.

Speaking with TravelBiz Monitor Ibrahim Mussa, Deputy Director of Tourism, TTB said, “TTB has recognised the potential of the Indian market, which has not been explored so far.
