TAT calls India rising star from the Asian market at TTM plus 2009

Plans customised campaigns to target inbound Indian travellers

Projecting India among groups of significant inbound markets, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) called it a rising star from the Asian market at the Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2009 which concluded yesterday. Thailand plans to target family and MICE visitors from India. For MICE Tourism, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has identified five cluster destinations namely, Greater Bangkok and Pattaya; Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai; Nakran Ratchasima and Khiri Khan; Hau Hin and Chan Am and south of Phuket. Currently, Thailand offers MICE facilities in most of its hotels situated in these identified regions, informed Puripan Bunnag, Sr. Manager-Marketing Promotion, TCEB. To stimulate MICE business, TCEB has also introduced three special packages for MICE visitors from Asia. Bunnag said that currently Thailand receives a good number of MICE visitors from India and is expecting more.

Furthermore, in order to increase visitors from India, TAT will provide customised campaigns for Indian markets to restore the confidence of travellers. Under its new strategy,
