Thailand-based Amari Hotels will foray into India with the signing of its first property in Delhi by April 2010, which will be operational in 2011. The Group plans to manage seven properties in India by 2018. For the same, locations and developers have been identified in Delhi, Mumbai and Goa.
Peter Henley, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Amari Hotels said, “The final announcement for the Delhi property is expected by April 2010. The Group aims to operate a total of 50-odd properties in the Asia-Pacific region by 2018.”
Talking about the importance of the Indian market, Henley said that India has been among the top ten source markets for the Group. He said, “We had about 90,000 room nights from India last year. We hope the numbers to grow in the coming years with the establishment of a dedicated marketing office in India.”
Apart from India, Amari has identified other Asia Pacific markets as well for expansion in the coming years. These include China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Australia. |
