According to a UNI report, the newly-formed Tiruchi Travel Federation has proposed to organise Travel Mart in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu in November/December this year in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. Leading air operators, travel agencies and tourism boards of countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Maldives will participate in the proposed Mart.
Announcing this at the formal inauguration of the Federation recently in Tiruchirapalli, V Vasudevan, Managing Director, Sangam Hotels and Co-promoter, Tiruchi Travel Federation said that the organisation was a representative body of airlines, travel and hospitality industries to promote tourism and allied industries in Tiruchi region. T H Radhakrishnan, President, Tiruchi Travel Federation and Station Manager, Air India, Tiruchi, said that the Federation planned to make the travel mart an annual event. K N Nehru, Transport Minister, Tamil Nadu formally inaugurated the Federation while T Soundaiah, District Collector, Tiruchi launched the exclusive website of the Federation-- www.ttf.co.in.
Vasudevan informed the Federation also planned to organise a tourism marathon within the next couple of months and a food festival at Mukkombu, a picnic spot near here, in January next year. He underlined the need for the tourism/hospitality industry to offer a variety of products to attract tourists.
