Tourism convention at VGGIS 2009 witnesses Rs 55,000 crore worth MoU’s for the state

At the opening day of the fourth Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2009 today at Science City Ahmedabad, a whopping Rs 55,000 crore worth Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were signed at the session, Tourism Convention, Globalisation of Gujarat Tourism. The session that focused on growth and the future development of tourism industry in the state had 102 MoU's (worth Rs 43,000 crore) signed for the development in tourism industry and 12 MoU's (worth Rs 12,000 crore) in the aviation industry. The MoU's signed will have many projects ranging from development of airports in Ambaji, Dwarka and Baroda (international airport), three film cities in the state, many five-star hotels, convention centres, resorts and clubs etc.

The inauguration ceremony of the summit was an overcrowded affair and as per estimates there was a crowd of over 15,000 participants for the proceedings of the first day.
