Tourism Flanders to open representative office in Mumbai and New Delhi on March 14, 2009

In talks with various tour operators for launching city-wise ad campaigns in India.

Tourism Flanders of Belgium will be officially launching its representative office in India on March 14, 2009 in Mumbai and New Delhi. Prior to this, the board had conducted a soft launch in July last year. Mileage Communications (India) Pvt. Ltd. had been appointed to handle the representative office in India. Top tourism officials are expected for the official launch of the representative office in India and will present details inform about the offerings by Flanders (a region in northern part of Belgium) for Indian travellers. The popular destinations which will be promoted include Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent, Leuven and Mechelen. The region (Flanders) attracted about 45,330 overnights by Indian travellers in the year 2007-2008 and is expecting further rise in figures this year.

Talking about the various activities planned for the Indian market, Sunil Puri, MD, Representative office – Tourism Flanders said, “We have strategically planned our business and marketing activities in India. We have recently participated in the Outbound Travel Roadshow 2009 to start spreading destination awareness on B2B and B2C level.
