Travel advisories adversely affect bookings on Royal Rajasthan on Wheels

After catering to 23 guests on its first trip, which comprised ten Indian tourists and thirteen foreign tourists, Royal Rajasthan on Wheels (RROW) has registered zilch bookings for the second trip. The second trip of the RROW, which commenced operations from January 11, 2009 from Safdargunj railway station in New Delhi, is scheduled for the 25th of this month. The RROW was started with an aim to provide an alternative to the Palace on Wheels, which is already booked till 2010.

Explaining the reason for the zero bookings, Jagdeep Singh, Media Facilitator, Rajasthan Tourism (Government of Rajasthan) said, “It is a result of the Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008 and consequently the travel advisories issued by the United States and European countries against travelling to India. Our main inbound tourist inflow for luxury trains comes from US, France and other European countries.”
