The 17-day long fight of the travel associations namely TAAI, TAFI, ETAA, IAAI, IATO and ADTOI with the first international carrier, Singapore Airlines (SQ) over reinstating agency commissions continues and will get stronger as the days go by. This was the ultimate verdict of the collective meet last evening in Mumbai where the Presidents of the various associations appealed to all their members to continue the fight.
The meet also witnessed participation of member agents from across cities of the country, which showed unity and passion for the cause. The unified Presidents voice warned international carriers who announced a policy of zero commission to take back their stand or face a unified approach as, “tough times do not last but tough people do.” This statement displayed the sentiments of the overall fraternity. Kick starting the meeting, Ajay Prakash, Secretary General, TAFI mentioned, “The conflict with SQ for the past 17 days has not been easy but the answer is not to give up but stay on course. There have been cases where the airline has tried to break the unity but despite all issues the agent fraternity has come out stronger. |
