Air India still undecided on commission issue

Travel trade associations have cautioned Singapore Airlines (SIA), in a letter sent to Woo Foo, General Manager, Singapore Airlines, to pay five per cent commission to travel agents on the gross fare. The joint letter was sent to SIA yesterday by members of TAAI, TAFI, IAAI, IATO and ADTOI. The letter, further warned the airline that the associations will withdraw support to the airline from 24th of this month if it does not pay five per cent commission to the agents.

As reported by TravelBiz Monitor on December 17, 2008, the travel trade associations held a meeting with Singapore Airlines earlier this week in Mumbai to discuss the issue of commissions. However, SIA did not agree to the agents’ demand of offering five per cent commission to them on tickets on the international sector. Representatives who attended the meeting were: Pradip Lulla, Acting President TAFI; Ajay Prakash, National Secretary, TAFI; Zakir Ahmed, Past President TAFI; Iqbal Mulla, Managing Committee Member, TAAI; Shahrukh Kapadia, Managing Committee Member, TAAI; Naresh Rajkotia, National Secretary, IAAI and Rajiv Shroff, Maharastra State Committee President, IAAI.
