Udaipur in Rajasthan has been voted as the World’s Best City in an online poll by Travel + Leisure magazine. Also known as ‘Venice of the East’, Udaipur is now the best city in the world to travel in 2009. The magazine last year announced Bangkok as the hottest travel destination. The poll, however, was not limited on picking the World's Best City to travel, but polls were also conducted to find out World's Best Island and World’s Top Hotel. Bali Island, Indonesia has been crowned as the World’s Best Island to visit in 2009 and Bushmans Kloof Cedar Mountains Hotel in South Africa as the World's Top Hotel. Known for its excellent service in aviation, Singapore Airlines once again grabbed the Best Airline award. Apart from Udaipur, world's best tourist destinations for 2009, Cape Town, Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Chiang Mai and Luang Prabang are other great cities to visit in 2009, according to Travel + Leisure Magazine.
Last year the number of international tourists who visited Udaipur was 1.86 lakh, 26,000 more than the number of international tourists in 2007. It is believed that with the status of number one city of the world, |
