UNWTO includes ATDC’s ‘Agri Tourism Day' celebrations to its international events calendar

After the Copenhagen Summit held from December 7- 18, 2009 in Copenhagen to create awareness on climate change and global warming, United National World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) is encouraging implementation of Ecotourism and Green Tourism. For the same, from this year, UNWTO has included 'Agri Tourism Day', celebrated by Pune-based Agri-Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), to its world events calendar as World Agri Tourism Day (WAD). According to UNWTO calendar, WAD will be celebrated from May 15-16 in Pune every year. After receiving recognition from UNWTO, this year ATDC is planning to celebrate WAD on an international level.  

Divulging the details, Pandurang Taware, Managing Director, ATDC said, “Apart from involving the ministries and tourism bodies of regional and state level, this year we aim to invite central and national tourism authorities. We are working towards inviting national and international trade associations who work to support Agri and Green Tourism.”
