Before the G20 world leaders’ meeting held in Los Cabos, Mexico, the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) had called on world leaders to consider travel & tourism as an engine for economic growth, and stimulating the global economy. According to these organisations, increasing travel and tourism demand through visa facilitation can be central to stimulating job creation. Taleb Rifai, Secretary-General, UNWTO and David Scowsill, President & CEO, WTTC, believed, “Travel and tourism industry has the potential to create millions of new jobs and contribute billions to the GDP in G20 countries. We call on the world leaders to take the necessary steps to realise that potential through removing unnecessary visa restrictions.” |
