The first-of-its-kind ‘Visit Golden Maharashtra Year’ initiative, in order to commemorate the golden jubilee of the state, conceived by the Maharashtra government, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC), kick started yesterday at Y B Chavan Centre, Mumbai with a two-day business conference.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Vijay Kumar Gavit, Minister of Tourism, Medical Education and Horticulture, Government of Maharashtra, who was the Chief Guest of the event. Also present during the inauguration were Vithal Kamat, President, MEDC; Vinod Gupta, Vice President- International, MEDC and Anand Kulkarni, Principal Tourism Secretary, Government of Maharashtra. The ‘Visit Golden Maharashtra Year’ initiative is aimed at highlighting the state’s tourism potential and initiating development of supporting infrastructure. The inaugural session also saw the inauguration of the directory of Maharashtra Tour Organisers.
Initiating the inaugural session, Kamat said that the theme of the session- ‘Sanskrititoon Samruddhi’ aims to make the state’s tourism successful with the help of its rich culture. |
