Non-profit organization, Wayanad Tourism Organisation (WTO) organised a nine-day monsoon programme SPLASH 2009, which concluded last week in Wayanad, Kerala. WTO has decided to organise SPLASH 2010 on the same dates i.e. July 3-11, next year. This year, SPLASH focused on various aspects of monsoon in the region and organised several outdoor and indoor activities including cultural programmes and sport events etc. for tourists. The event organised in partnership with Kerala Tourism; India Tourism and District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), Wayanad cost Rs 45 lakh.
SPLASH 2009 attracted large number of tourists and rain lovers from across the country. K Vancheeswaran, Secretary, WTO informed that this year the event attracted thousands of tourists from outside Kerala and WTO is planning to organise SPLASH 2010 with more commercial importance. The final ceremony of SPLASH 2009 was attended by distinguished personalities including Dr. V Venu, Principal Secretary, Tourism, Government of Kerala; M I Shanavaz, Member of Parliament; Elamram Kareem, Minister for Industries, Kerala; Kunjiraman, MLA; M P Veerendra Kumar, Member of Parliament etc. |
