Karnataka and West Bengal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday to promote each other’s tourist destinations, programmes and products. The MoU was signed by TVN Rao, Managing Director, West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation (WBTDC) and Vinay Luthra, Managing Director, Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC). The MoU comes into effect today.
According to Rao, under the MoU, KSTDC and WBTDC will provide access to each other’s websites by issuing a separate password, which will enable tourists to book his or her travel and hotel reservations to destinations in Karnataka and West Bengal.
According to a report in Statesman News Service, WBTDC manages 24 tourist lodges with 545 rooms across West Bengal, which will be offered to tourists from Karnataka. Additionally, there will be tour packages to the Sundarbans in luxury vessels, MV Chitralekha and MV Sarbajaya from October to May every year. In the same way, KSTDC will offer its products through its flagship, Jungle Lodges, for tourists from West Bengal. This arrangement will facilitate easy booking and reservations to destinations of travellers choice in respective states. |
