WSDE 2010 considers India as a potential outbound Sports Tourism market

To witness over 400 exhibitors from 22 countries during this year’s event

The World Sport Destination Expo (WSDE), which will be held from July 5-9, 2010 at Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa alongside the final week of FIFA World Cup 2010 could prove to be a global platform for India to showcase its potential for Commonwealth Games 2010.  

WSDE aims to showcase the potential of global Sport Tourism industry. Over 400 exhibitors from 22 countries; 50,000 visitors from across the world and 22,000 media delegates are expected to attend the exhibition. Leading sporting destinations, sports resorts and hotels, sporting bid communities, tour and event organisers, tour operators and elite buyers will participate in the event.

Talking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor, on the potential of India as an outbound Sports Tourism market, Sion Rapson, Global Business Director, WSDE said, “India is one of the biggest markets for Sports Tourism in the world with growing trend for cricket and football. Huge response recorded by South African tourism during IPL Cricket last year brought India in the limelight for many countries aiming to organise sport events.
