In order to give a local experience of the state, the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has launched a series of heritage cycling tours where enthusiasts can spend time cycling around various landmarks, reports The Hindu.

The trail is designed in a way that it rediscovers Chennai’s rich historical past. TTDC has launched cycling trail through collaboration with Chennai-based cycling group – Cycling Yogis. “TTDC introduced cycling heritage trails for the first time to create awareness about the history behind various historical monuments and buildings in the city. The trails are designed country-wise to understand the history behind their arrival and their contribution to the city. Cycling tours will also promote health and fitness and participants explore the city in a fun way,” said Sandeep Nanduri, MD, TTDC.

On April 3, participants, who are expected to bring their own bicycles, can learn about the Armenian connection. On April 17, it would be the American connection, and on May 1, the George Town Trail.
