Thomas Cook India’s Sita Wins Responsible Tourism Gold Award at World Travel Mart 2021

Thomas Cook (India) Ltd., India’s leading integrated travel and travel related financial services company, announced that its brand – Sita wins Responsible Tourism Gold Award at World Travel Mart 2021 London; Honoured for sustaining Employees and Communities through the Pandemic.

As a culmination of the organisation’s efforts to weather the pandemic and support employees and communities, Sita is a proud recipient of the World Travel Mart Responsible Tourism Gold Award. The nominees were judged basis the criteria of replicability, innovation, and overall commitment to responsible tourism by a panel of judges from within the industry.

Sita responded to the pandemic through continued employment and on-time salaries of employees below middle management, and further reinstated salaries for middle and senior management May 2021 onwards. In addition, the company introduced a four-day working week to enable employees to have more family time and achieve a better work-life balance. More importantly, Sita organised a company-wide Covid vaccination drive and an Employee Covid Care Plan, which provided ex gratia payments to support the staff and their family members in unfortunate situations, including death. Sita promptly paid the pending invoices from suppliers, including hotels, guides, and transporters, keeping every small or big vendor associated with the company in good financial health. Also, focussed on valuable utilisation of time and provided training to enhance skills of the employees.
